Modern technologies for cattle welfare - report from the conference in Płońsk
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, a conference on animal welfare and modern technologies in the production of beef cattle was held at the Educational and Conference Center in Płońsk. The organizer of the event was Mazowiecki Agricultural Advisory Center in Warsaw. The meeting gathered a wide range of participants: farmers, breeders, industry experts, representatives of science and companies providing innovative technological solutions.
As Smart Feed Sp. z o. o., we are proud of the fact that we could present the Feed Wagon Module and its integration with the Dinamica Generale system. This is an innovative solution supporting precise feeding of beef cattle.
A program full of substance and inspiration
From the early morning hours, participants registered at the Educational and Conference Center in picturesque Płońsk. After the official opening of the conference by Katarzyna Zybert - advisor to MODR Warsaw - the participants listened to a lecture on current legal regulations related to the Animal Protection Act. Ms. Zybert discussed in detail the welfare aspects of beef cattle in the context of applicable regulations, which sparked a lively discussion on practical challenges in their implementation.
The next point of the program was the presentation of the farm of Katarzyna and Marek Tomaszewski, who shared their experiences in managing cattle breeding in the face of diseases such as RHD. Participants could learn what steps breeders take to ensure the highest quality of animal care and minimize the risk of diseases in herds, as well as how to conduct and develop beef cattle breeding from the farmer's point of view.
Innovative Smart Feed tools
The next point was a joint presentation of the possibilities of the Smart Feed application, both in the context of precise nutrition and, above all, the beneficial impact on animal welfare and the environment. Renata Szwarc, our representative and CEO, together with Prof. Adam Cieślak from Poznań University of Life Sciences, presented the problems that cattle breeding will face in the near future. They are related to methane production by cattle and consumer sentiment. The speaker emphasized that precise nutrition will increase the optimization of feeding of beef cattle and have a positive impact on the environment. An application was also presented with the latest proposals of the "Feed Wagon Module", a methane calculator integrated with feed wagons, which is primarily intended to increase precision in feeding at all stages. From the recipe (dose), through the feed wagon to the feed table. The use of artificial intelligence in ruminant nutrition was also discussed.
The Smart Feed tool, thanks to the use of advanced algorithms, enables precise adjustment of the feed composition to the individual needs of animals, which brings both economic and environmental benefits. The reduction of methane emissions, crucial for climate protection, was discussed in detail and supported by examples of implementation.
Many participants appreciated the opportunity to ask questions during the question and answer session. The issues of implementing Smart Feed technology on smaller farms and the possibility of obtaining technical support were often discussed.
Modern technologies and the future of breeding
The following speeches presented other innovations that could revolutionize beef cattle breeding. Jacek Lasmanowicz from ProBiotics Polska introduced the participants to the use of probiotics in animal breeding and breeding, pointing out their beneficial effect on cattle health and production efficiency. After the break, calf rearing methods using modern technologies were also presented, discussed in detail by Adrian Adamczak and Łukasz Zamojdzin from Biomix Poland Sp. z o. o., a partner company of Smart Feed Sp. z o. o.
Dr hab. Marcin Gołębiewski from SGGW in Warsaw closed the part with a substantive lecture on the future of beef cattle production. He emphasized the role of integrated breeding management systems and pointed out that the future of the industry lies in combining scientific knowledge with agricultural practice and the use of solutions such as Smart Feed.
Register!Let's talk!
The conference ended with a discussion, which was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences between participants. Smart Feed Sp. z o. o. proudly participated in this event, sharing knowledge and supporting breeders in achieving their goals. Thanks to such meetings, the breeding industry in Poland gains access to the latest technologies that help increase production efficiency, improve animal welfare and protect the natural environment. We believe that our participation in the conference in Płońsk will contribute to introducing positive changes on farms throughout the country.
