Program and participants

The seminar started at 10:00 with a welcome by prof. Dr. hab. engineer Dariusz Piwczyński and dr hab. engineer Aleksandra Dunisławska, prof. PBŚ. Then, the participants had the opportunity to listen to three extremely interesting presentations. The first of them, entitled "Pig breeding in Poland yesterday, today and tomorrow?", was delivered by Bartosz Czarniak, spokesman for POLSUS, who presented the evolution of pig breeding in Poland over the years and the development prospects of this sector. Then Maciej Bendlewski, Sales DirectorBiomix Poland Sp. z o. o., talked about liquid feeding of pigs, presenting the advantages of this innovative solution and its practical application on farms. The last speech, prepared by Paulina Gołą-Młynarska, a breeder from Kijewo, focused on the characteristics of pig breeding on individual farms, analyzing both the threats and opportunities related to this type of production. Each speech aroused keen interest among the participants and became a starting point for further discussion. After the presentations, there was a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Hab. engineer Hanna Jankowiak, prof. PBŚ.

Presentation by Maciej Bendlewski

One of the most interesting points of the program was the lecture by Maciej Bendlewski - sales director of Biomix Poland Sp. z o. o., a partner of Smart Feed Sp. zoo. It was devoted to liquid feeding of pigs. The speaker, a graduate of Poznań University of Life Sciences and an expert with many years of experience in the feed industry, presented a comprehensive picture of this approach.

Main topics of the presentation

During his presentation, Bendlewski explained in an accessible way what liquid feeding of pigs is and what benefits it offers. He talked about the use of liquid feed, which is produced, among others, from food industry by-products. Thanks to this, it is possible to effectively use available raw materials, which fits into the idea of sustainable development. The speaker emphasized that this method is becoming more and more popular - 15 years ago it was used by several farms, and today it is used by over 140.

The role of a nutritional advisor

The expert noted how important a role a nutritional advisor plays in this process. This is the person responsible for selecting appropriate ingredients, preparing feed concentrates and managing the installation technology. It is crucial to adapt the systems to the needs of a specific farm, as each farm has its own unique requirements.

Advantages and disadvantages of liquid nutrition

In his presentation, Bendlewski presented both the advantages and disadvantages of liquid nutrition. The advantages include lower feed costs, the possibility of using lactic acid produced in the ensiling process, better feed intake at high temperatures and reduced health problems such as stomach ulcers. On the other hand, this method requires more initial investment, generates more slurry and may be more difficult to use for sows.

Key to success

Finally, the speaker shared tips on how to achieve success in implementing this solution. He pointed out the importance of appropriate knowledge, careful selection of installations and cooperation with experienced advisors. He also warned against succumbing to persuasions and fascination with the capabilities of the equipment, and advised to focus on substantive consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of the installation/system.

The presentation met with great interest from the participants, who eagerly asked questions and shared their experiences. Bendlewski's speech showed that liquid feeding of pigs can be an effective solution for modern farms, but requires appropriate preparation and well-thought-out decisions. The entire seminar was an important step towards popularizing innovative methods in Polish pig breeding.

The seminar in Bydgoszcz was a unique opportunity to exchange experiences and deepen knowledge in the field of pig breeding. Maciej Bendlewski's speech provided valuable information about liquid feeding, pointing to its potential as an innovative solution in pig production. The speaker encouraged participants to make informed investment decisions, emphasizing that each farm requires an individual approach.
